EVA offers a physician advisor for 24-hour virtual consulting availability. We provide our expertise at different stages of ECMO support. At the time of selection before ECMO initiation. At the time of cannulation to select the best mode, configuration, and cannulation strategy. Throughout the ECMO run to prevent complications and advance patient care. Finally, at decannulation to establish safe discontinuation and in difficult cases provide the best family-provider interaction.
24-Hour ECMO Virtual Patient Monitoring. EVA combines 24 hours of ECMO monitoring with physician advisor oversight to assist your ECMO center’s staff or outsourced personnel as per your center’s staffing model. The primary purpose is to have a cost-effective model that fits specific institution resources availability.
Additional Services
Virtual ECMO Center Assessment – EVA offers a Quality of Care and Outcomes assessment of your ECMO Center. Virtual Assessment to include virtual interviews/meetings; review of Center protocols, outcomes, and documents; and preparation and presentation of findings.
On-Site assessment to include a full 1-2 days of walk-through/review of unit, meet in-person with leadership and ECMO staff, review procedures and protocols. A follow-up report on strengths/weaknesses and recommendations will be provided within 3 weeks of visit.
Financial Assessment – EVA offers an in-depth financial assessment of revenue and expenses. As currently ECMO reimbursement is favorable, most centers are seeing a contribution margin of $100,000/case or more, but many centers fail to capitalize on revenue opportunities which are available.
ECMO/Perfusion Staffing: through our close collaboration with several ECMO specialist staffing groups, we can assist in providing trained, experienced bedside personnel, transport capability and ECMO management at the nursing, RT or perfusionist level. Reviewing staffing models with revenue and expenses established also helps to identify opportunities to enhance your ECMO Center profitability.
Quality Improvement: Through our industry colleagues, EVA also can assist with establishing remote monitoring of patients, perform quality and safety data analysis and assist with reporting to groups such as STS, ELSO, JCAHO, US News and World Reports. We also help centers interpret their data and compare it to others to improve overall patient safety and outcomes. This data is extremely valuable to hospital administration and leadership.
Policies and Procedures: EVA can assist ECMO centers in developing management protocols based on most up to date evidence.
Virtual or on-campus Teaching/Education. EVA physician advisors have over hundred years of ECMO expertise/experience and offer virtual or on-campus teaching to ECMO Center specialists, nurses, physicians, and all those involved in the care of these complex patients.
